Culturally, there’s mutual disdain between California and other states. It would be better off splitting away. Let it split. Without these “leftists,” the U.S. would be better off, with the Republican Party firmly in power. Trump’s proposed higher tariffs are bad for the economy since they increase inflation. That is causing 10yrTYs to spike higher (4.70%, +1.4bp and highest since April), which hurts high duration (high P/E) growth names like $TSLA most. Today’s lower than expected Dec ADP private payrolls (+122K vs +140K exp) helps alleviate some pressure, but Trump needs to tone down his rhetoric.

Canada is a strong, independent nation with the 9th largest economy in the world, and our southern neighbour benefits from this economic strength. We are the United States’ best customer. We buy more products and services from the US than any other single nation, and more than Germany, UK, France, Italy and Vietnam combined. We can strengthen our partnership even further in the coming years by securing our shared border and fighting unfair Chinese trade practices that harm workers in both of our countries. I will continue to share with Americans the economic story Alberta has to tell and that's why I will be in Washington during the inauguration.
