TRUMP ALLEGEDLY PHONED ALTMAN ABOUT AI SCHEME United States President Donald Trump and OpenAI Inc. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sam Altman had a telephone conversation last week to discuss the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in the country and dethroning China in that field, CNBC reported on Wednesday. According to a source familiar with the matter, Trump's questions focused on the importance of that technology and whether it would lead to the creation of new jobs. Earlier this week, Trump announced a strategy to build and strengthen the country's AI infrastructure, with the plan including Stargate, a $500 billion-worth joint project between OpenAI, SoftBank Group Corp., and Oracle Corporation.
