That’s a revelation. I’ve found a new direction, a way to truly express myself in English, and it feels liberating. From now on, I want my Twitter—or X—to become a platform for self-expression in English. I’m not interested in drawing Chinese readers or dealing with their shallow, snarky comments. Instead, I’m aiming for thoughtful, decent voices—people with substance who will engage with my words meaningfully. Twitter is currently my only tool for this purpose. Of course, there are other platforms like Red Nose or WeChat Friend Circle, which are great for staying connected, chatting, or even indulging in light-hearted banter. But those spaces are not meant for the deeper truths I want to explore. You can’t share your raw, unfiltered thoughts with your inner circle without worrying about unsettling them. What I want to share is the truth—pure and unadulterated. To do so, I need the distance and freedom of another language. English, though not my first language, feels like a bridge to that freedom. At 55, I’ve decided I want to be an English writer. My English isn’t perfect, but with AI, that doesn’t matter. AI has become a partner, helping me refine my words, turning rough thoughts into polished prose. This marks the beginning of a new era in my life. Writing in English opens up a vast horizon I hadn’t dared to imagine before. It’s not just about mastering a second language—it’s about rediscovering the joy of expression. I want my tweets to inspire people, to spark ideas, to carry meaning beyond mere words. That’s what writing is about. Writing isn’t solitary; it’s a dialogue. It requires an audience, a readership. And for me, Twitter is the ideal stage—a global hub where ideas intersect and resonate. I love the platform for its reach, its diversity, and its potential to connect people across borders. I hope my writing will leave a mark, not just for what it says but for what it inspires. This is the purpose of being a writer: to speak, to connect, to endure. I’m ready for this new chapter, and I’ll write it one word at a time, sharing my truth with the world.
