#JFSALON #RSVP 賀欣：中國的司法制度 He Xin: The Judicial System of China 5/16 Friday, 6:00 - 7:30 pm, Chinese 中文講座 在習近平執政並對司法進行徹底改革之後，應如何理解中國法院和法律體系的運作？The Judicial System of China一書不同於現有的中國法律理論，提出了一個治理模式。在該模式下，法院具有兩大首要特徵：支持國家政策執行的目標以及增強國家合法性。書中穿插了諸多故事和軼聞趣事，生動地闡釋了法院如何裁决主要類型的案件，以及法官、律師、陪審員和訴訟當事人的行為模式。它亦揭示了該體系歷經變遷背後所依據的理念。 About the Speaker 賀欣是香港大學的Mok Sau-King法學教授。他獲得了北京大學的法學學士學位和Stanford大學的法學博士學位。他與Kwai Ng 合著的專著Embedded Courts: Judicial Decision Making in China曾榮獲多個圖書獎項。他的研究興趣包括法律與社會以及中國法律制度。 報名連結：

#JFSalon #季風人文講壇 李宇森 「如水哲學：敘事如何改變我們對離散的理解」 Be Water: How Narrative Changes Our Understanding of Diaspora 經歷過2019年香港的社會運動，當中的如水精神成為香港以至世界民主抗爭歷史的新一頁。但在如今社運偃旗息鼓的年代，面對散落世界各地的離散社群，如水哲學還能如何提煉出離散政治主體，在敘事之中連結彼此。這樣，離散政治不單不再困於復國主義的宿命或統獨的二元對立，反而能展開更多後主權的政治形態可能。這正是《離散時代的如水哲學》邀請大家一同思考的政治出路。 李宇森，現為美國尤金郎學院 (Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts) 政治系講師，紐約社會研究新學院 The New School for Social Research）政治系博士候選人，英國約克大學政治系碩士，著有《主權在民論》、《主權神話論》及《離散時代的如水哲學》。研究興趣包括生態政治、國際關係理論和主權政洽思想。 Having experienced Hong Kong's social movement in 2019, the "Be Water" spirit became a new chapter in the history of democratic resistance in Hong Kong and worldwide. But in today's era where social movements have quieted down, facing diaspora communities scattered around the world, how can the "Be Water" philosophy still distill a diasporic political subjectivity that connects people through narrative? This way, diasporic politics is no longer trapped in the fate of restorationism or the binary opposition of unification versus independence, but can instead develop more post-sovereign political possibilities. This is precisely the political path that "Be Water: On Diaspora Agency" invites everyone to contemplate together. Lee Yu Sum(Samuel) is currently a lecturer in the Politics Department at Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, a PhD candidate in Politics at The New School for Social Research, and holds a master's degree in Politics from the University of York, UK. 【1月 #季風人文講壇 發布】#JFSalon #JFBooks 在2025年的開端，我們將持續推出“媒體與公民系列講座”，邀來獨立媒體人江雪，女權行動者李思磐，為我們分享她們對新聞理想的實踐、媒體、國家、與性別在特殊曆史形態下的交織軌跡。同時，我們會邀請來自不同領域的英文作者，講述二戰時期故宮文物的故事，一位在上海出生後來移民美國的中德混血講述自身所經歷的不同身份、國族、文化之間的流轉，以及新的語境下，個體機構在中國建立貿易關係的歷史與可能。我們將以武漢封城的紀錄片開始今年的季風獨立紀錄片放映。這是一部關於人如何存活，並保持完整的記錄。 At the beginning of 2025, we’ll have Adam Brookes talking about his recently published book Fragile Cargo: The World War II Race to Save the Treasures of China's Forbidden City, which grips the true story of the bold and determined museum curators who saved the priceless treasures of China’s Forbidden City in the years leading up to World War II and beyond; and Katherine Hsu Haas, Chinese-German woman whose family arrived in Washington, DC by boat in 1937, whose debut book Little Jade, chronicles the life story composed of navigations across countries, different political systems, cultures, and lifestyles; Patrick Jenevein, writer and CEO of Pointe Bello, talking about his newly published book Dancing with the Dragon: Cautionary Tales of the New China from an Old China Hand , which “provides an unvarnished, firsthand account of both the promise and pitfalls of doing business in China.” We will continue our “Media and Civil Society Series”, having independent journalist Jiang Xue and women’s rights activist Li Sipan over to talk about their experiences being an investigative reporter, and the tensional trajectory of the relationship among media, nation, and gender.
